“I believe my personal signatures in songwriting are a powerful melody, a great hook that you can’t get out of your head, and a compelling bridge.”
Margie Hauser launched her career scoring a total of 19 published songs in 2008 alone. She was the Music Supervisor and collaborated on most of the music in the feature film ALICE UPSIDE DOWN starring Alyson Stoner (Disney’s CAMP ROCK) and Lucas Grabeel (HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL), who each sang two of her songs. “Higher,” the hit single she wrote with Tiffany, set a career record for the 80s pop princess by rising to the Top 20 on the Billboard Dance/Club charts after a ten-week run. The track also made the Top 10 at Perfect Beat for 2007. Tiffany’s follow-up single that Hauser penned, “Just Another Day,” was also a #1 Billboard breakout and enjoyed an even longer chart run. Hauser’s prolific output combined with her incredible sense of melody and emotionally powerful lyrics, has been acknowledged alongside of multi-platinum hit-makers Diane Warren and Kara DioGuardi.
One of music’s top artists, Taylor Dayne, recorded Hauser’s “The Fall,” which became the second best- selling ringtone from the powerhouse singer’s album Satisfied. “Something Out Of Nothing,” Hauser’s co-write with Eliot Sloan from the pop/rock group Blessid Union of Souls, was recorded by Lost Tricks. “The Best Of Me” was also written with Sloan and was released by NYC dance artist Lucas Prata. She also collaborated with Sloan on songs for his solo album. Bryce Palisser recorded Hauser’s “City to City” for his country debut project, and she wrote two exciting singles for breaking pop/dance artist Henri “Wanna Be Ur Baby,” which she co-wrote with Pamela Phillips Oland (Whitney Houston, Jermaine Jackson) and Eddie Armador (Seal, Madonna) and “Round And Round,” written with Henri and Jean Baptiste (Black Eyed Peas).
Hauser’s roster of other collaborations is equally diverse, starting with her partnership with “American Idol” Season 5 finalist Ace Young (who co-wrote Daughtry’s Grammy nominated hit “It’s Not Over”). The hypnotic urban pop song “This & That” was written with Taja Seville (a dance artist and originally a Prince discovery) and produced by D’Moet (Nas) . The song was commissioned by Urban Farming Organization. She wrote “True” with romantic singer/songwriter Ryan Sallis. Five-part harmonic boy band group Ellis One, multi-platinum producer Drew Lane (Mary J. Blige) and his partner Adaamick Mendoza, teamed up with Hauser on pop artist Auburn’s (La, La, La) project.
In addition to writing with legendary pop songwriter Wendy Waldman (“Save The Best For Last”), Hauser has also worked with guitarist/co-lead vocalist Gregori Chad Petree of Universal Music Group alt/modern rockers Shiny Toy Guns. She also wrote “Hey Boy” with Tiffany and Eric Pressley (Stevie Nicks, Cher). Other releases include songs written with and performed by Chris Korblien, Miriamm, Chris Doran, Shenkar and Jaakko covering jazz, soundtrack, hip hop and world genres.
Her work over the following years included the Casanovas-style “Try A Little Love” released by Laura Jane Jones (Enrique Iglesias) and produced by Martin Blasick. “We Are The Red’s” was picked up by MLB and written with famed remixer Dave Aude. Hauser worked on The Don Vaughn Project having co-produced “Again”, written with and featuring Nick Lachey and “Absolution”, both EDM songs co-produced with Nashville’s Loren Johnson. “Power” written for the new MMA league, is a high tempo hip hop anthem. Hauser then shifted her focus primarily to instrumental songs featuring her own piano tracks most notably the power ballad “The Journey” which was licensed to and performed for Cure In The Canyon’s Breast Cancer Research Foundation in Los Angeles, California.
Based in Los Angeles, Hauser thrives on the intense creative exchanges with her fellow collaborators but is equally comfortable composing solo at her piano and keyboards at home. A voter of the Recording Academy, she is currently passionate about helping to brand young new artists intent on showcasing their unique talents by writing and producing music that is relevant within the market, tailored for their singles and EPs. One notable artist to watch is Dublin’s singer-songwriter, Isaac Butler, who follows in the footsteps of Lewis Capaldi and Dean Lewis as a hot new artist in the pop scene that just released his debut single “Rescue Me” in 2019, one of five singles written and produced with Hauser to follow in 2020/2021. Tiffany’s released “Angels” in December 2020, her first ever Christmas song written by Hauser.
Watch for new music by the following Nashville artists. Samantha Tieger who resembles a young Ingrid Michaelson is hypnotizing on “Heart and Soul”. Olivia Francis, is a contagious and vibrant folk/pop singer reminiscent of Kacey Musgraves releasing “Breathing Room” early 2022. Jon Wayne Hatfield, a 19- year- old country artist with a million + tic tok followers will be releasing “Signed Til Then” late this year. Hauser shines working with these new artists showcasing their uniqueness in songs written together and produced with her attention to detail.
A collaboration with Prince protégé Taja Seville birthed “I’m Still Here” which confronts the challenge of Demetia performed in English and French. Forth coming are remixes on cutting edge ATMOS technology for “Gonna Be Fine” and “Drunk On Love” both written with Loren Johnson.
Her greatest blessings are her husband, Mark and their four children, Missy, Eric, Nikki and Katie who she says constantly fuel and inspire her!
“For me, the key to writing a great song is connecting to the listener right away, whether it’s to make them smile, give them goose bumps, or just let them feel the urge to get up and dance.”
